Your Kaleida subscription covers your whole family under one plan held by the plan owner. This article explains how plans work, how to upgrade, what happens at renewal, and what to expect if your subscription expires.
Who Can Manage the Subscription
Only the plan owner (admin) can change the subscription. Other family members will be directed to check with the owner. Where you manage it depends on how you subscribed:
| Where You Subscribed | Where to Manage It |
|---|---|
| Apple App Store (IAP) | Your Apple ID subscription settings, or the in-app upgrade prompt |
| Google Play Store (IAP) | Your Google Play subscription settings, or the in-app upgrade prompt |
| Recurly (web) | Check your email for the link Trend Micro sends you |
How Plans and Tokens Work
- Family plans come in 2, and 4 seats. The plan owner holds the license and invites members.
- Tokens (your usage allowance) are shared across the whole family, and refill on the same day each month as your original purchase — buy on Jan 1, and they refill Feb 1, Mar 1, and so on.
- A free trial period of 14 days is available. When it ends, you're charged and receive a full month's tokens — not a prorated amount.
Note: Kaleida will warn you in chat when you've used 80% of your monthly tokens, and you'll also receive an email.
Upgrading Your Plan
You'll typically be prompted to upgrade when you hit your token cap or run out of family seats. As the plan owner:
- When Kaleida tells you you've reached a limit, tap the upgrade option shown in chat.
- Choose your new plan and complete the purchase through your app store (or via the link emailed to you, for Recurly subscriptions).
- Same billing cycle: You'll receive the difference in tokens added to your pool right away — for example, upgrading from 0.5M to 1M adds 0.5M tokens.
- New billing cycle: Your upgrade date becomes your new purchase date, and token usage resets.
Note: You can't upgrade directly from a monthly plan to a yearly plan — you'll need to cancel your monthly subscription first, then subscribe yearly.
Renewal and Cancellation
- Subscriptions renew automatically through whichever store or billing system you purchased from.
- To cancel, manage the subscription where you bought it — your Apple ID or Google Play subscription settings for in-app purchases, or the link in your Trend Micro billing email for Recurly.
Note: Cancelling in the TrendLife App itself isn't supported — cancellation always goes through the store or billing provider that processed your purchase.
What Happens If Your Subscription Expires
- The plan owner sees a blocking screen with a prompt to renew — via the in-app purchase page (IAP) or an emailed link (Recurly).
- Family members are simply blocked from chat and should contact the plan owner.
- Your chat conversations and memory are retained for 6 months after expiry.
- If the plan isn't renewed, the family group is dismissed after 40 days and the associated data is deleted.
Reduced Access When You Hit Your Token Cap
If you reach your monthly token cap before upgrading, Kaleida keeps working but with limits:
- The whole family shares 10 general conversations per day, and 3 image or PDF uploads per day.
- Web search, image generation, and executor tools (calendar, maps, IoT devices) are unavailable.
- CDLP security queries remain effectively unlimited — your protection features keep running.
