Need a copy of your saved passwords and secure notes? This guide shows you how to export your Trend Micro ID Protection Vault data to your device, and how to open the files once they download.
🔔 Important Note: The Export Vault Data feature is available on the Trend Micro ID Protection web portal only — not in the mobile app or browser extension.
Step 1: Sign In and Open Your Vault
- Open your browser and visit the Trend Micro ID Protection website.
- Click on the key logo on the left to access the Vault.
- Sign in with your Trend Micro Account.
- Enter again your registered email for your Trend Micro Account and your password.
- Enter again your Trend Micro Account password. This will open your Vault.
🔔 Important Note: Being asked for your password more than once is normal — it's an extra security check before your Vault opens.
Step 2: Export Your Vault Data
-
Click the Export Vault Data icon you see on the upper right, then click Export.
An Export vault data window will open showing:
- Description: "Download a copy of your vault data to your device."
- Important:
- Your passwords will be exported as plain text and visible to anyone who opens the file.
- Save the file somewhere safe and delete it when you no longer need it.
- What will be exported: the number of passwords and secure notes currently in your Vault (for example, "42 passwords" and "5 secure notes").
- File name: ID Protection vault export [current date].zip
- Confirm the item counts and file name, then click Export data. (Click Cancel to close the window without exporting.)
- The file ID Protection vault export [date].zip will download automatically to your device's default download location.
Step 3: Locate and Use Your Exported Files
- Go to your browser's Downloads folder (or wherever your browser saves files) and locate the ZIP file.
- Unzip or extract the ZIP file. Inside, you will find two CSV files:
- Passwords [date].csv – contains your Display name, Account, Password, Website, and Notes for each saved password.
- Secure Notes [date].csv – contains the Title and Content of each saved secure note.
- Because passwords are exported in plain, readable text, store the extracted files in a secure location and delete them as soon as you no longer need them.
Step 4: Import Your Passwords
If you want to move these passwords into a new device, a fresh installation, or another password manager, use your exported Passwords [date].csv file with the import guide below:
🔔 Important Note: Secure notes cannot currently be re-imported through the CSV import feature; the import guide covers passwords only.
